What's Algoma All About?

Approximately 30 miles northeast of Green Bay, Wisconsin sits a small town along Lake Michigan’s shoreline called Algoma. To many, Algoma is the fishing capital of Wisconsin. Aside from the excellent fishery Algoma provides for anglers, this small town has a vibe that brings in many tourists from Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and of course, many visitors within the state.

Year-round, the town has about 3,100 residents, and summer months bring an influx of families and friends staying at their second homes, Airbnb’s, local campgrounds, hotels, or in their boats in the marinas within the Ahnapee River.

Algoma is in the most northern part of Kewaunee county and edges Door County. About a 20-minute drive to Sturgeon Bay, by many, considered the most popular city in the county. The beautiful part about Algoma is much lower property taxes paid in comparison to Door County. Many sell their homes and vacation homes in Door County and find much more for the dollar in Kewaunee County without sacrificing the beauty Lake Michigan offers.

Newly listed homes with appeal tend to get multiple offers, so buyers are highly encouraged to be ready to make a move when they find a home that warms the heart!

Out of towners, we have a great downloadable guide for you to utilize your next time up. Included but not limited to Absolute Lake Michigan’s preferred local partners, coupons and discounts, tips to buying real estate, and some of our favorite spots to absorb the beauty of Lake Michigan.
